Grace Awards

“The Grace Awards are in honor of Lucile Salter Packard, and the reason we called it the Grace Awards is because she was known as a woman of grace,” said Christopher G. Dawes, president and CEO at Stanford Children’s Health. “Her vision and compassion led to the creation of Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. It is truly unique.”
The Grace Awards recognize outstanding achievement and dedication in caring for children and expectant mothers. This year Stanford Children’s Health named Eleazer Delgadillo, housekeeping assistant, as a Grace Award winner and the 2017 Employee of the Year.
“Eleazer exudes a warm energy to everyone around her, and she’s humble,” said Jill Sullivan, MSN, RN, vice president of hospital transformation, referencing comments shared by Eleazer’s colleagues.  “She doesn’t expect recognition for her work, and she truly deserves recognition. She’s a major asset to our hospital.”

Have you been to a restaurant that served amazing food? Have you ever wish you get invited to the Chef's table or be present to witness how the menus were put together?

Today I am that lucky person. I was very fortunate to be invited by the Stanford Health Care Food Services team to attend their new menu planning session for the new fall/Winter menus starting  from October 2-October 6. According to Chef Andrae Elizondo, CEC, the new menu also took into Employee's and Customer's requests and feedbacks. So, it is a collaboration between both customers and food services colleagues.

Jodi Krefetz, Interim Director Food Services,  Eva Shum, CDM, CFPP, Retail Operations Manager, Ricardo Guzman, Retail supervisor, Olga Gonzalez, Retail supervisor, Andrae Elizondo, Executive Chef, Jeremy Garrett, Sous Chef, Miguel Garcia, Head cook and Ashley Copley, Food Services Manager were in attendance.

The process started with Chef Andrae introducing each dishes. Questions such as ingredients, origin of the ingredients, healthy options, presentations, how well the meal hold on take out orders, textures, and price were involved when each dishes were tasted.  Recommendations and feedbacks were also provided to the chef. I am like a kid in the candy store. Mesmerized with how elaborate a menu planning is and how good it taste. Five dishes were introduced at the menu planning session and four dishes makes the cut.

Here are the menu items that made the cut. The menu will be introduced at Market Fresh Cafe starting October 2:

1) Braised beef short ribs
2) Ramen bowl with Kurobuta pork or tofu with miso broth
3) Shrimp Tempura Ramen bowl
4) Chicken Penne with Marinara Sauce

We also had a chance to try the Homemade No Bake Key Lime pie which will be available on September 23rd during Key Lime Pie Day!

When the team compliments the chefs on job well done, Chef Miguel mentioned "All dishes were put together with love by the production team". It definitely shows Chefs!

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
