The Stop Hunger program http://www.sodexousa.com/home/corporate-responsibility/sustainable-development/local-communities/stop-hunger.html is part of the Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow commitments which center on Sodexo’s
mission and values of Improving quality of life.
It is a program that, among other efforts, encourages all Sodexo accounts to divert surplus food by
donating to local charities to help those in need.
In supporting this effort, the Sodexo Food and Nutrition
department at Stanford Health Care led by Ted Weirich, Director of Food and
Nutrition has partnered with COPIA, a tech- enabled food recovery company. https://www.gocopia.com/#/
According to Ted , as a result of the initiatives, from September
- October 2016, 5,862 lbs. of food were recovered and 4,886 meals were
provided. This has also resulted in sustainability effort of 5,510 lbs. of
methane being diverted.
To the Sodexo Food and Nutrition team- "Thank you for improving the
