The Stop Hunger program http://www.sodexousa.com/home/corporate-responsibility/sustainable-development/local-communities/stop-hunger.html is part of the Sodexo’s Better Tomorrow commitments which center on Sodexo’s mission and values of Improving quality of life.

It is a program that, among other efforts, encourages all Sodexo accounts to divert surplus food by donating to local charities to help those in need.

In supporting this effort, the Sodexo Food and Nutrition department at Stanford Health Care led by Ted Weirich, Director of Food and Nutrition has partnered with COPIA, a tech- enabled food recovery company. https://www.gocopia.com/#/

According to Ted , as a result of the initiatives, from September - October 2016, 5,862 lbs. of food were recovered and 4,886 meals were provided. This has also resulted in sustainability effort of 5,510 lbs. of methane being diverted.

To the Sodexo Food and Nutrition team- "Thank you for improving the quality of life of our community. We are so proud of you!”

Sodexo Food Services team at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital celebrated Halloween with a Superhero Lego theme

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford hosts their annual “Trick-Or-Treat Trail” for their patients and family members.  This event never ceases to amaze and “wow” the children with four floors of endless fun and costumed participants.

Excited for the upcoming event, we, the Sodexo Food Services team at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, planned out our Superhero Lego theme.  Our team illuminated the wall with bright Lego décor and a photo booth!  Our “Legoland” theme was often referred to as “Best of the Show.”  Hundreds of patients, siblings, parents, nurses, physicians and support staff took pictures at our Superhero Lego photo booth.

We support our hospital staff day in and day out, but to put smiles and excitement on our patients’ faces, this day, warmed our hearts enough to keep us going until next year!
