The entire food services team celebrates the award recognition with Ricardo today during the Food Services huddle. The Food Services team are so proud on the well deserved recognition.
Here is Ricardo's nomination:
Ricardo has been a part of the SHC family for
over 29 years. This is his second consecutive year to be nominated for the
Gonda Award. He began his career in Security followed by Food Services where he
remains today as the Retail Supervisor. He has seen this amazing organization
evolve several times throughout the decades. From the cafeteria with a side
pick-up deli to the newly renovated space it is today. He played a critical
role in the cafeteria renovation, operated and staffed 5 alternative dining
locations throughout the main hospital campus for over 6 months to ensure our
patient family members, guests and employees were well fed and culinary needs
were met throughout the closure. This required rewriting workflows, complicated
scheduling, ope-rationalizing new menus, set ups, equipment and team training.
Ricardo, unlike others, does not fear change but rather embraces it. He goes
above and beyond each and every day to ensure the Retail team is doing
everything possible to create a comforting environment and place of solace for
those looking after and caring for loved ones as well as the team members who
are providing state of the art care for the patients.
He arrives daily at 4:30am and greets every day with a huge smile. He embodies CI-CARE with his daily interactions with customers and colleagues. He approaches challenges via problem solving methods and seeks to elevate outcomes, all the while, mentoring those around him. He is a team player dedicated to quickly resolving issues that arise. He has a vigor and zest for SHC like none other. He remains a “forever student” and welcomes new programs and processes with open arms. He exemplifies CI-CARE for it is the core of his multitude of daily interactions whether it be with a patient, family member or colleague.
Ricardo has a heart of gold. He has a way of truly being able to connect with his colleagues and direct reports with kindness, understanding and leadership. He expresses that this place has changed him for the better and SHC has given him more than he could ever give back.
Stanford Health Care’s vision is to heal
humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time. Ricardo has
exemplified and embodied this mission for almost 3 decades. For 29 years,
Ricardo has remained humble, positive, and motivated – a mentor to all he
leads. Our success is rooted in loyalty and unfaltering dedication of rare
individuals like Ricardo.
Congratulations Ricardo! We are very proud and grateful for your service!
