Sodexo Patient Equipment Management Solutions (PEMS) celebrates 805 Injury Free day today

The Sodexo Patient Equipment Management Solutions (PEMS) team at Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital celebrates 805 injury free days today with a Pizza party.

The team has been supporting Sodexo Zero Harm safety culture. http://sodexoinsights.com/safety-zero-harm/ and Stanford Hospitality team safety mission -"To discover behaviors and/or environmental factors that lead to safety risks and mitigate them to protect our staff and provide a safe environment".

Before the team starts any task, they ask the following 3 checks for safety questions:
1) Do I know how to do the job?
2) Do I have the right tools and equipment to do the job?
3) Is my environment safe?

If the answer to any of the above questions are no, colleagues are advised to stop, seek assistance and correct the situation before they proceed.

The team also mentioned Teamwork is another contributing factor to a safe environment. When each team member plays an active role in safety, not only are we making the hospital a safer place for our patients, it also improves the quality of daily life for all colleagues. It is making the workplace a better environment for everyone.

According to Peter Stanislaw, Director of Express Services, " Providing hospital staff, patients and visitors a safe environment is paramount in PEMS. The culture was instilled during department orientation , and is encouraged in our daily huddles. Taking the time to prepare standard work and providing detailed training has also contributed to the department meeting the 800 safe-day milestone".

To the PEMS team- Thank you for your commitement to the Sodexo Zero harm safety culture!
